Our group made progress on the call last night. Everyone was in favor of moving forward toward:
(1) Stage Reconfiguration (involving Jack / Carl) for estimates and who can do the work (permits, etc.)
(2) Stage flooring modifications (Dark Stain on Pergo or Parquet flooring) (Jack / Carl)
Phase 2:
(3) Drywall White Wall Hung / Cross reconfiguration - Wally. White painted steel trellis hung from the ceiling.
(4) LCD Lighting for color and texture options - Wally, Gary S.
Plan sketches here.

First Design Idea...
- Re-carpet existing stage carpet in charcoal gray & painting current parquet floor (epoxy paint for durability). This would mute the electronics, cords & music stands and create cohesion.
- Introduce 4-6 freestanding, wood walls--with drop lighting. This would create better sectioning, provide textural interest & could be re-purposed when major remodel is done (e.g. gym stage.)
- Install drop lighting (Edison or modern style chands) to warm stage area
- Potentially mount 2 50-inch flat screen TVs on each wall (provided we are gifted them.)
- Optional: add a piece to stage to bring grand piano up
- Remove organ (discard or place on Craigslist for pickup) & use that area for seasonal design, flag and/or banners
as a point of reference, this is the BEFORE:

Sister Church...with great ideas & design
I don't know much about this church, but some friends told me to check out Arlington Countryside Church - http://www.acchurch.org/home, as they just redid their sanctuary.
I would like to go visit & see (in person), what this looks like. I like their style, and while I don't think we should go that contemporary--there are some elements we could easily incorporate.

Great site for ideas...
Love some of the ideas on this site. Inexpensive, creative. Posting this to refer back to...
Before Photos
I took a few photos today as a reference point. My initial thoughts:
- Mute the dark brown, oak wood paneling (with burlap) on the side walls & blend with ceiling color (paint & fabrics)
- Remove ficus trees, unused/non-working organ, flag and mute exit signs
- Create a more formal, yet flexible central pulpit area (vs. music stands)
- Introduce modern textures (reclaimed wood) through movable screens and staging
- Introduce new lighting (pendant) which would create a warmer, more intimate stage area
- Reconfigure the piano & organ areas / extend the stage reach
